This blog originally began to document our experiences living and working in Alexandria, Egypt from September 2009-September 2010, but has since grown into dealing with the political events sweeping the Middle East. All of the original content will stay up!

Our posts reflect only our opinions and not those of our respective employers.

What this page used to say:
Hi! We are Ken Nisbet and Setsuko Oya. We are set to get our Teaching English as a Foreign Language certificates in Alexandria, Egypt, and intend to stay in the country to work and study Arabic. We hold MA’s in International Relations from New York University.

Ken studied the Middle East and Central Asia exclusively and Set worked on issues surrounding Africa during our time at NYU. We’re doing this because we feel Egypt presents an amazing opportunity to gain insight into the regions we studied in grad school, and to further build on our skills as area specialists.
